On 15th February 2019 ALAF Limited awarded the winners for The Mabati – Cornel Kiswahili prize for African Literature during the award ceremony that was held at Mlimani City conference Centre in Dar es Salaam. The Guest of Honor was the Vice President of The United Republic of Tanzania Hon. Ms Samia Suluhu Hassan. The event was attended by more than 150 people from the Swahili fratenities, Universities, Business community, Distributors etc. Other notable guests included the Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports Honorable Dr.Harrison Mwakyembe, Minister for Industries, Trade and Investment Honorable Joseph Kakunda, Dar es salaam Regional Commissioner Honorable Paul Makonda, Lord Mayor for Dar es salaam city Honorable Isaya Mwita, High Commissioner for Kenyan Embassy Honorable Dan Kazungu and NEMC Director Dr. Samwuel Gwamaka.
The four hours’ event started at 10:30am till 03:30pm and included a number of activities like speeches from the Guest of Honor and various stakeholders, prize handing over to winners, launch of books for 2017 winners and entertainment from cultural group and live band. In the end all the guests together with ALAF officials had an opportunity to meet, interact and exchange their experiences while having lunch.
On 25th January we have launched another ALAF Roof Gallery at Mwenge area. This is our second showroom in efforts to ensure that we bring our product and services closer to our customers and service them better.
The Guest of Honor in the launch ceremony was the District Commissioner of Kindononi District Mr Daniel Chongolo who officially opened the Roof Gallery together with the General Manager Roofing Mr Dipti Mohanty. The Guest of Honor commended the Company for their efforts to ensure that our products and services are easily accessible and available to our customers.
The plan is to develop and open 3 more Roof Galleries in key areas in Dar es Salaam this year.

ALAF recognizes the power of Installers as vital influencers in assisting building owners to make product selections for their roofing. To this end, they have initiated a Training Programme to build partnerships with local installers, whilst also equipping them with the knowledge to make informed recommendations to their clients.
The program takes the form of workshops and seminars and since its introduction, has enrolled more than 100 installers who have become awesome ALALF ambassadors across the country, leading to a rise in sales and a firm market share for ALAF in the face of stiff competition.
The 2018 SABA SABA Trade Fair organized by the Tanzanian Trade Development Authority in Dar es Salaam in June -July 2018, was the 42nd such International Trade Fair of its kind.
Launched by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, the Hon Kassim Majaliwa, the show has established itself over the years as the shop window for Tanzanian products as well as those of the East, Central and the Southern African Region.
In 2018 more than 2,000 exhibitors from 33 different countries across the globe participated in the exhibition, and ALAF participated for the 8th time in a row! With a key emphasis on Lifestyle and Color-coated roofing sheets, ALAF sought to communicate its unmatched quality and service.
More than 300 people visited the ALAF pavilion resulting in sales of 20 MT of color roofing sheets and Lifestyle products.
Kariakoo is one of the biggest market areas in Dar es Salaam city, catering to a major percentage of the residents of the City Centre. The inauguration of the new ALAF Kariakoo showroom was therefore an important milestone in 2018.
Mr. DP Mohanty, Business Head of ALAF Roofing business, applauded the ALAF team involved in the project for their commitment, and paid a special token of appreciation for Prisca Kallinga (ALAF Customer Service Manager) for her leadership shown during the whole project.
“Showcasing ALAF products and services as the total building solution & providing technical solutions to customers are the key objectives for us opening a Roof Gallery in Kariakoo” he commented.
Mr. Ashutosh Charan, General Manager of ALAF Coils business endorsed this by saying “This is a huge step for ALAF to be nearer its customers and will allow us to improve our customer service in order to attract more customers from this area”.
